Medication: 

There are many kinds of medications that can be used to treat mental illnesses. Antidepressants, antianxiety drugs, antipsychotics, mood-stabilizing drugs, and stimulants are some of the most commonly used medications. Depending on your diagnosis, this will determine the type of medicine that is appropriate for you.

First visit is an initial evaluation to discuss symptoms and history. A diagnosis will then be made. Usually labs are needed before prescribing medicine, and with certain medicine requires an EKG such as stimulants. 

Typically, once all results are in, they will be reviewed with you during the follow up to determine what is safe or unsafe to prescribe.

All future follow up appointments will be an assessment of the progress with the treatment plan laid out during the initial evaluation.
